This picture brings tears to my eyes; while my boy wouldn't think ahead to tie some yarn to find his way home, he and his wooden sword have had many glorious adventures... This speaks volumes to me both as a parent and as a once-little boy. The small touches...like the grass peeking over the threshold between the picture and the attic...are amazing.
Oh my god nevermind, I just went to your site and found (or more like re-found) Worm World Saga, I read that years ago and loved it. I loved the art of it too, in fact it's what really brought me into the story. But seeing it again in this much more detailed and thought provoking form is amazing. Good work Daniel.
Oh my goodness is this one incredible piece. Not only is it completely gorgeous in just about every way I might try to describe, but it also resonates VERY strongly with something deep inside me that yearns for adventure to impossible places. My heartiest praise and congratulations on this piece. I only wish I'd found it earlier.
Nice job portraying the innocence of a child wanting to go out and be the hero of a story. The toy sword, yarn ball and the teddy bear peeking from the backpack just say so much! (I kind of picture my own son like this some days. Beautifully done.
